🚀 Getting started & accounts
- First time on a device: Santypes asks you to create a profile (just a name) the very first time it's opened in a browser. This only happens once per device — after that it remembers you and opens straight to your Dashboard.
- Multiple profiles: add more people on the same device from Settings → "Accounts on this device". Each profile keeps its own stats, streaks, achievements, lessons progress, and theme.
- Switching profiles: use the "Switch user" dropdown in Settings. Your current profile name always shows as a chip in the top-right corner.
- Deleting a profile: "Delete current profile" in Settings — you can't delete your only remaining profile.
- Everything is stored locally in this browser only (see "Privacy & data" below) — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
⌨ Typing test
- Modes: Time (race the clock), Word count (type a set number of words), Quote, Paragraph, Story, Book, Code, Numbers, Punctuation, Mixed, Custom text (paste your own), and AI-style adaptive (shuffles varied text types together).
- Duration / Word target: pick a time limit (15/30/60/120/300s) for Time mode, or a word count for Word-count mode.
- Language: English, Hindi, or Kannada text.
- Font size: adjust how large the typing text appears (also adjustable in Settings).
- Start / Restart: every test begins with a 3-2-1 countdown so you're never caught off guard.
- Live stats while typing: WPM, Accuracy, Consistency, and Time/Progress update on every keystroke, plus a live WPM sparkline graph.
- Live keyboard: shows which finger should hit each key (color-coded legend) and highlights your real keypresses as you type.
- Caps Lock warning: a banner appears if Caps Lock is on, since it usually causes a string of avoidable errors.
- Ghost race: once you've completed at least one test in a mode, your next attempt in that mode races against your own best run — a moving ghost bar shows whether you're ahead or behind.
- Goal bar: set a personal WPM target next to the typing controls; a progress bar fills as you approach it during the test.
- Focus mode (⛶ button or Ctrl+Shift+F): hides everything except the typing surface, live chart, and live keyboard for distraction-free practice. If your screen is short, just scroll down within focus mode — the keyboard is always reachable. Exit anytime with "✕ Exit Focus" or Esc.
- Pomodoro timer (Ctrl+Shift+P): a 25-minute focus / 5-minute break cycle (4 sessions per round) with Start/Pause and Reset, for structuring longer practice sessions.
- Word-error mode (Ctrl+Shift+W): highlights the whole word — not just the wrong letter — whenever you make a mistake in it, to build whole-word accuracy awareness.
📊 Results
- Headline stats: Final WPM, Raw WPM (before error penalty), Accuracy, and Consistency.
- Graphs: a speed graph and an accuracy graph showing how you trended through the test.
- Weak-key & finger analysis: exactly which keys and fingers caused the most mistakes in that run.
- Next plan: a short, personalized coaching suggestion based on this result.
- Share your result: download a result card image, or copy your stats as text to paste elsewhere.
- Quick actions: "New test" (same mode, new text), "Same text" (exact replay), "Next mode" (cycles to the next mode), and quick chips for jumping straight into 60s / Quote / Code / Numbers / 50-words / Paragraph.
- Lesson chaining: if your test was a Lessons chapter, you'll also see "Next lesson" (jumps straight into the next chapter if you passed, or invites a retry if you didn't) and "Back to chapter" to return to the Lessons list. There's no daily limit — chain through as many chapters as you like in one sitting.
📚 Lessons (30-day curriculum)
- A structured, week-by-week curriculum that introduces new keys and skills one chapter at a time.
- Sequential unlocking: finish a chapter to unlock the next one. Whole weeks unlock the same way, once every chapter in the previous week is done.
- Lesson detail panel: tap any unlocked chapter to see its goal, your best score so far, the keys it introduces, helpful tips, and a "Start chapter" button.
- Typing stays inside Lessons: starting a chapter doesn't send you to the generic Typing Test tab — you get a focused lesson banner showing the chapter, its WPM/accuracy target, and "Restart lesson" / "Exit lesson" buttons.
- No restrictions: there's no daily cap — complete one chapter or all 30 days in a single sitting, whatever pace suits you.
- Resume where I left off: jumps straight to your next unlocked chapter.
- Reset progress: clears all chapter completion data (asks for confirmation first).
- Custom lessons: save any pasted text as your own named lesson from Settings — it appears at the bottom of the Lessons list and works exactly like a curriculum chapter, minus the locking.
🎮 Games
- Four quick, keyboard-only mini-games for reflexes and reaction speed — a change of pace from structured tests and lessons.
- Word Rain: words fall from the top of the stage — type one and press Space or Enter to destroy it before it lands. Three lives; the game ends when you run out.
- Type Invaders: the same mechanic as Word Rain, with more enemies on screen at once and a faster ramp-up — built for players who want a tougher pace sooner.
- Speed Burst: a tight 15-second round, one word at a time — type it and immediately move to the next. Score is reported as an approximate WPM plus accuracy.
- Memory Type: briefly memorize a short sequence of words, then type them back in order from memory. Each cleared round adds one more word to remember.
- Best scores: your best result in each game is saved per profile, right alongside the rest of your Santypes stats — nothing leaves this browser.
- At any game-over screen, press Enter to play again or Esc to head back to the games menu — no mouse required.
⬡ Dashboard

- Trend charts: WPM and Accuracy over your last 20 tests.
- Coaching note: a short, automatically generated tip based on your recent performance.

- Career progress: a plain-language stage — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, Professional, or Elite — based on your best WPM, with what to focus on next.
- Daily nudge: a reminder banner if you haven't practiced yet today, with a one-tap "Start now" button.
- Weekly recap: a Monday (or 7+ session) summary card of the week's activity.
🏆 Achievements, records & history
- Achievements: badges for milestones — first test, 5/20 tests completed, WPM thresholds (40/60/90), accuracy thresholds (95/98%), 3-day and 7-day streaks, 3 code-mode tests, and a 120-second endurance run. Unlocking one pops a celebration (confetti, or balloons for streak badges).
- Personal Records: your best WPM broken down by mode, plus an all-time-bests summary.
- Session History: every past session, with buttons to Export JSON, Export CSV, or Import JSON — handy for backups or moving data between browsers manually.
- Key Heatmap: a visual keyboard showing which keys you get wrong most often (yellow = some errors, red = frequent).
🎮 XP, levels, streaks & daily challenge
- XP & levels: you earn XP for completing tests; every 250 XP is a new level, shown in the sidebar with a progress bar.
- Streak: counts consecutive days you've practiced — shown in the sidebar and on the Lessons tab.
- Daily challenge: a new mini-goal each day (e.g. "Beat your best WPM by 2 points"), shown in the sidebar.
- Time used: the sidebar, top bar, and Dashboard all show how much total time you've spent using Santypes — plus a "today" breakdown in the sidebar.
🎨 Themes & appearance (Settings)
- Theme: switch between Dark and Light mode.
- Accent color: pick from Violet, Cyan, Emerald, Amber, Rose, or Sky — this single control sets the accent color and its matching glow tones together, so they're always in sync.
- Typing font size: set the default size for the typing text (also adjustable per-test on the Typing Test screen).
- Press Save settings after making changes so they stick for your profile. Theme and accent changes also apply live as you pick them.
♿ Accessibility (Settings)
- Reduced motion: turns off animation effects for a calmer interface.
- High contrast: increases contrast for better readability.
- Dyslexia mode: switches to a more dyslexia-friendly text rendering.
- Key sounds: plays a soft sound on each keystroke. There's also a quick 🔊/🔇 toggle pill in the top bar of every screen, so you don't need to open Settings just to mute it.

🔒 Privacy & data
- Santypes stores everything locally in this browser (using localStorage) — your stats, lessons progress, settings, and profiles never leave this device.
- Nothing is sent to a server, and there's no login beyond the on-device profile you create.
- Clearing your browser's site data, or opening Santypes in a different browser or device, starts fresh — it won't carry your history over.
- Use Session History → Export JSON occasionally if you'd like a backup, and Import JSON to restore it later or move it to another browser.
